Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in getting involved? The PTO relies on the incredible work of parent and family volunteers and have volunteer opportunities to fit everyone’s schedules and talents. Many things can even be done at home or during off-hours. Even just an hour of your time makes a huge difference and is so appreciated.

Volunteer opportunities are not limited to parents. Grandparents and other family members are welcome to be involved!

If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete and send us the Volunteer Outreach Form or email us at walterjpatonpto@gmail.com.

Next volunteer opportunity: 4th Grade Celebration Planning

The final year at Paton is always filled with so much excitement and so many activities that are special to our 4th grade students, including the 4th grade picnic, yearbook, legacy project, and the “Moving Up Day” ceremony. These different activities make up what we call the 4th Grade Celebration.

Each year the PTO looks to the 4th grade parents to help plan and organize these special events. We invite all 4th grade parents to join us at our next PTO Meeting, Tuesday, January 14th at 7:00 pm, where we’ll be discussing the activities.

All school volunteers must complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) form before volunteering. Having a completed CORI on file is required to volunteer for class parties, reading to students, field trips, and field day.

If you haven’t filled out a CORI form yet, please see Mrs. Lapierre in the main office or visit the Shrewsbury Public Schools website.

The CORI check process can take a few weeks but are valid for three years. CORI checks completed in another town or for town sports do not apply to Shrewsbury Public Schools. Please see Mrs. Lapierre in the main office to confirm your CORI status if you are unsure.
