Book Blizzard Poster Contest 2022

The annual Paton read-a-thon and fundraiser, The Book Blizzard, will take place this year from February 14-27.

We need your help with this great reading event!

Paton students are invited to design and create a Book Blizzard poster.

A panel of teachers will choose the winner who will have his or her poster displayed, both in the school and online, to advertise the Book Blizzard! (This is an optional and individual assignment where students create a poster at home.)

Poster Requirements

  1. Poster must be made using a 8.5” x 11” paper. Larger or smaller sizes cannot be accepted.
  2. Write your name and teacher’s name on the back of your poster.
  3. Your poster must clearly show the following information:
    Paton Book Blizzard
    February 14-27, 2022
  4. Posters can be made using any of the following: markers, crayons, colored pencils, or paint. Since the poster will be scanned and enlarged, please do not glue any materials.
  5. Use a winter theme – Think SNOW!

Designs must be submitted by Friday, February 4, 2022 in one of the following ways:
1. Directly to the Main Office
2. Electronically submitted to the Paton PTO email – walterjpatonpto@gmail.com

The winner will be announced the week of February 6, 2022.

Thankful for My Flock

Who are you thankful for this year? Mom and Dad? Your teacher or principal? Your neighbor or friend? With the Thankful For My Flock fundraiser, the Paton School community will be showing Shrewsbury how grateful we are for the special people in our lives.

How can you participate?

1. Click the link below, complete the form, and tell us who you are thankful for this year.

2. With the donation of $5, we will put that name on a decorative turkey and place it on the front lawn of Paton School along Route 140.

Let’s see how many turkeys we can get on the front lawn! Turkeys can be purchased now through November 22.

Complete this form to participate!

Please see the sign up for more information on the First Day(s) of School volunteer opportunities.

Reminder: You must have a valid CORI form on file to volunteer. CORI forms can be obtained online or at the Central Office in Town Hall before the beginning of the school year.

Spring = Pancake Breakfast Time!!

One of Paton’s longest standing traditions is our Annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.  This year families will gather on Saturday, April 6th to share a morning of pancakes, raffles & fun before the real crush of spring sports and other activities make taking time-out like this near impossible.

Whether this is your first time attending or your 4th (or even more!), we promise you’ll enjoy a great morning with your fellow Paton community members. We are grateful for the strong community support we’ve received again this year from our local restaurants, museums, entertainment and service providers and more to help provide items for our raffles and silent auction.  Please check out the full list of our contributors, a silent auction brochure and bid form here.

Finally, our class raffle baskets are a team effort of all our parents.  The kids really take pride in what their class puts together.  We thank you for the donations you’ve made and we deeply appreciate our room parents for helping put together the final products.

We look forward to seeing you on the 6th!

Book Blizzard Enters Week Two

This year’s book blizzard is on track to be our best year yet! Our on-line pledge app has helped us increase pledges and our students are busy reading to make those pledges a reality. Also new in 2019 – in addition to awarding top readers/top classroom prizes this year, we have also launched what we hope will be a new annual – the best video book report.

Want to participate? Just take a short video, no more than 30s in length, featuring your student talking about a book they read during Book Blizzard. It should include what they like about the book and why they would recommend reading it to their fellow students.  Send your video to walterjpatonpto@gmail.com
